The Cawker City Hesperian Historical Society is dedicated in preserving the history of our town and surrounding vicinity including Lincoln Park and Waconda Springs.  

The Society is currently restoring the 1884 Public Library building as our city museum.  Future projects include the restoration of the 1879 "Ledger" building on our main street, Wisconsin Avenue aka U.S. Highway 24.

Cawker City was founded in 1870 by E.H. Cawker, the result of a poker game between the original ​founders ​of the community ​​and their disagreement on naming the town. Cawker City is proud of its history and farming heritage.
